Famous engraving of the Philippines.

Artist appointed on the expedition commanded by La Perouse. He sailed in La Boussole, which left Brest (France) on 1 August 1785. La perouse arrived at Botany Bay, on the 24th January 1788, entering on 26 January just as the British were leaving for Sydney Cove.

Gaspard Duche de Vancy (1756–1788)

Duche de Vancy was a French C18th artist, brought up in Vienna. He exhibited in the Paris Salon of Young Artists (1781) and also at London’s Royal Academy (1784).
