World map on Mercator’s Projection with a rectangular title panel. Australia is shown with an imaginary east coast and prior to its discovery by James Cook’s and the charting of Bass Strait by Flinders and Bass. The east coast is shown according to the French School of Theoretical Geography, that proposed that the the Australian east coast continued from Van Diemen’s Land to the Solomon Islands.
