As usually found; dissected into twenty four sections, with minor soiling, chips to sheet edge and wear to folds. In good condition otherwise. Removed from old linen and relaid onto archival linen.

Description:

Dated 18th March, 1827, corrected to 1828.

Early issue of this important separately issued large scale map of New South Wales by Joseph Cross, dedicated to John Oxley, Surveyor General of New South Wales at the time. The map extends from Moreton Bay in the north to Port Phillip in the south. Shown are nine counties, roads and includes the most up to date information on the progress of exploration in the colony. There are inset maps of the principal ports.

English map seller, engraver and publisher. Cross was a founding member of Royal Geographical Society (4 August 1830). He produced a number of important maps of Australia which contained up to date information on inland discoveries.
