Rare and important map of Sydney Harbour from the accounts of the voyage of Hyacinthe Yves Philippe Potentien, Baron de Bougainville who visited New South Wales in 1825. During his visit he set up a monument to La Pérouse and erected a grave for le Receveur at Botany Bay.
From: Bougainville, H. Journal de la Navigation Autour du Globe de la frigate La Thetis et de la corvette L’Esperance pendant les annes 1824, 1825 et 1826.
Ambroise Tardieu (1788 - 1841)
Tardieu was a French cartographer and engraver of Paris Rue de Sorbonne No 385 was born in 1788 and died in 1841. Tardieu composed maps for Voyages of La Harpe 1821, for Dumont Durville1833 and an Atlas Universal in 1842. He also worked for the depot marine.
