Vice Admiral The Hon. John Byron, RN ( 1723 - 1786)

Vice Admiral The Hon. John Byron, RN (1723-1786) was a Royal Navy officer, nicknamedĀ Foul-weather JackĀ because of his frequent encounters with bad weather at sea. He sailed with George Anson as a midshipman, on his voyage around the world and circumnavigated the world commodore with his own squadron in 1764-1766. He rose to Vice Admiral of the White before his death in 1786.
