Important and highly influential German Art Nouveau series showing the use of the plant in art and trade. Anton Seder was the first director of the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg.
Anton Johann Seder was born in Munich and received his artistic training at the Academy of Arts. He was a follower of the Jugendstil movement and was active as a painter, sculptor and as an architect. In 1890, Seder was finally appointed director of the School of Arts and Crafts in Strasbourg. He was a specialist in craft drawings and published a number of beautiful designs for gold, silver and iron works. In his role as a professor, Seder was also passionately committed to contemporary discussions in art.
