After opening of the first Commonwealth Parliament in Melbourne, the Duke and Duchess of York and Cornwall (later King George V and Queen Mary) on 9 May, 1901, arrived in Sydney on 27 May where nearly 250,000 people gathered to greet them.

Artist:

George Rose (1861-1942)

Rose was a Melbourne photographer who started his photographic career around 1880 producing stereoscopic or 3-D images when viewed through a special viewer. He called his business ‘The Rose Stereograph Company’ and he toured the world with his 3-D camera, producing stereographs for the home and overseas markets.
