Description:

Very rare map which is called for in the publication of John Trusler’s, A Descriptive Account of the Islands Lately Discovered in the South Seas but which is only rarely included.

The coastlines of Australia, New Guinea, Tasmania are shown incomplete with a fictitious southern coastline joined to the southern coast of Van Diemen’s Land discovered by Abel Tasman in 1642. The east coast of the continent is based on the charting by James Cook on his first voyage 1769-1770.
