Town plan of Moscow with ornate title cartouche and a scale in Russian feet. The city ceased to be Russia&#8217s capital in 1712, after the founding of Saint Petersburg by Peter the Great in 1703. This plan was made in the year that the Russian Plague epidemic reached Moscow, claiming the lives of up to 100,000 Muscovites.
