Map of Stockholm with a key indicating numerous points of interest. The city entered a period of urban renewal after a fire in 1625 destroyed the south-western part of the old town. Two new boulevards were built and along the eastern waterfront, the medieval wall was replaced by a row of prestigious palaces along Skeppsbron, which is located along the eastern quay of Stockholm’s old town it is marked on this map as ‘The Bank’. New city plans with wide and straight streets were created of the areas surrounding the Old Town: Norrmalm, �stermalm, Kungsholmen, and S�dermalm, which can be seen in this plan.
