Rare hydrographic chart of Cape Ghir to Garnet Head including the Canary Islands  from Admiralty Surveys between the years 1820 & 1838. First issued in 1898 with additional small corrections made up to 1908. Insets of Agadir or Santa Cruz and Cape Juby Anchorage appear on bottom right hand side.

 

Admiral Sir William James Lloyd Wharton (1843 - 1905)

Admiral Wharton was a British admiral and was promoted to captain in 1880 and on 1 August 1884 he was appointed to the Hydrographer to the Navy a post he held for the next twenty years. in 1895 he was promoted to rear-admiral.
