Description:

Studied Ashfield Tech School, J.S.Watkins School and Julian Ashton. First exhibition at RAS 1902 and member of the NSW Society of Artists. He spent two years in London studying mainly the works of Constable, Steer and Turner. About 1911 Auld returned to Australia and in 1918 settled at Dee Why near fellow artists Roland Wakelin and Lawson Balfour in an environment suited to Post-Impressionist plein air painting. He had poor health and died of tuberculosis. He won the Wynne prize in 1935 and is represented in state galleries. Represented AGNSW TMAG References McCulloch, Encyclopedia of Australian Art.
