Large superbly embellished map of Saxon England by one of the most well known dynasty of Dutch mapmakers.

A very decorative C18th map of England by one of the great Dutch family of mapmakers, with title cartouche at top right with a the royal crest below, an ornate scale of distances at lower left and above that, two cupids holding a crown.

This state with ‘cum privilege’ below title.

Mapmaker:

The Visschers were a Dutch family of mapmakers, engravers and publishers who became one of the largest firms in Holland in the seventeenth century. As none of the Visscher’s atlases were issued with printed dates, it has always been difficult to precisely date their maps.
