Description:

Rare Hydrographic chart of Mourilyan Harbour, on Queensland’s Cassowary Coast. John Moresby had charted Mourilyan Harbour in 1872, on a coastal patrol in HMS Basilisk and named it after one of his officers, Lieutenant T. L. Mourilyan. The port is used for the export of sugar and molasses from Innisfail, Babinda, Tully and the Atherton Tableland. First issued 15th April 1886, new edition 6th September 1911 and small corrections 1919.

Admiral Sir William James Lloyd Wharton (1843 - 1905)

Admiral Wharton was a British admiral and was promoted to captain in 1880 and on 1 August 1884 he was appointed to the Hydrographer to the Navy a post he held for the next twenty years. in 1895 he was promoted to rear-admiral.
