Fully hand coloured example of this fine map of Boston by the renowned firm of map makers John Tallis & Company. There are three vignette views State House, Boston and Bunkers’s Hill, Monument. The Common which is clearly shown is one the world’s oldest urban parks.

John Tallis (1817 - 1876)

Bookseller and publisher of maps and atlases who produced the famous atlas of maps, 'The Illustrated Atlas, and modern history of the World'. The maps were drawn by John Rapkin (1813-1899) and were beautifully decorated with vignette views and local fauna and flora of the areas depicted. John Rapkin (1813-1899) Rapkin was a mapmaker and engraver who is best known for his superb engraving on John Tallis publications.
