Rare plan of Brisbane showing proposed areas to be reclaimed and extension of wharves.
By 1872, Brisbane had displaced Ipswich as the most important shipping destination, and the river channel was dredged from the mouth to the Town Reach. “Reach” was the portion of the river between bends from Victoria Bridge to Sydney Street.
