Aaron Arrowsmith  (1750 – 1823)

Initially a land surveyor
and worked for other map publishers. In 1790 he set up on his own as a
publisher and engraver. His first map was a world map showing all the recent
discoveries and foreshadowed his future direction. All his working life he
produced maps with the most recent discoveries and information. These were
supplied from information given by explorers and travellers who often gave him
their manuscripts to included in his maps.
