Rare and decorative c.18th map of Mantua, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy by Giovambattista Albrizzi with an elaborate title at top right by Giovambattista Albrizzi (1698-1777). Mantua is a city surrounded by 3 artificial lakes in the northern Italian region of Lombardy. It’s known for the architectural legacy of the Renaissance Gonzaga rulers, who built the Ducal Palace.

Giovambattista Albrizzi (1698 - 1777)
Albrizzi was a publisher, patron, collector and one of the great figures of eighteenth-century Venetian intellectual and cultural life. Although Venice had been the centre of the European map trade during the sixteenth century, its importance was greatly diminished in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as Dutch and German publishers became increasingly dominant.
