Superb large scale engraved chart of New Guinea from Voyage Autour Du Monde, being the voyage of the Coquille commanded by Louis Duperrey in 1822-5. At top is a striking engraved view of the island. Rare.
This ship visited many Pacific Islands including New Guinea, Tonga, Society Islands, New Zealand, Tahiti and Australia. They collected thousands of specimens, many of which were new to science.

Ambroise Tardieu (1788-1841)
French cartographer and engraver of Paris Rue de Sorbonne No 385 was born in 1788 and died in 1841. Tardieu composed maps for Voyages of La Harpe 1821, for Dumont Durvill 1833 and an Atlas Universal in 1842. He also worked for the depot marine.
Louis Isadore Duperrey
Superb engraving from Voyage Autour Du Monde being the voyage of the Coquille commanded by Louis Duperrey in 1822-5. The ship visited many Pacific Island, including N.Guinea, Tonga, Society Isls, NZ, Tahiti and Australia. They collected thousands of specimens, many of which were new to science.
