Description:

This appears to be the earliest dated map recording the discoveries made by Nicholas Baudin indicated by the reference on the southern coast, Cote vue par Baudin, as well as I.des Kanguroos for Kangaroo Island.  The general chart of Australia in the official accounts of the Baudin voyage has a date of  Tardieu was the same engraver of the Freycinet charts that appear in the official account of the Baudin voyage.

Important chart of the south seas, showing Australia with the discoveries made by Cook on the east coast but not including current knowledge of Bass Strait (Bass & Flinders 1798).  The tracks of the ships l’Esperance and la Republic under the command of Bruni d’Entrecasteux are shown.

Tardieu was the same engraver of the Freycinet charts that appear in the official account of the Baudin voyage.
