Superb c.18th highly embellished large map of China divided into provinces, with an an enormous title panel at lower right festooned with allegorical figures overlooking moored European galleons and junks. At lower left is an ornate Rococo style scale of distances with a cherub while at top right is an explanation key.

Matthaus Seutter (1678 - 1756)
Matthaus Seutter (1678-1756) Mapmaker, engraver and publisher of Augsburg. A pupil of Homann he set up on his account in 1707 & appointed Geographer to the Imperial Court.

Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717 - 1777)
Lotter was a publisher of maps in Augsburg, Germany. He inherited the family mapmaking business from his father-in-law, Matthias Seutter. Lotter published atlases and numerous sheet maps.
