Important c.19th county map by George Bishop (act. 1857-?) covering the area from Cowra to Bathurst and from Orange to Rockley from the first county atlas published in the colony. Surrounding the map are panels of text listing: rivers, towns and creeks. The maps were compiled from ‘the very latest plans in the Land’s Department‘, while the geographical information is from the published accounts of the colony by Wentworth, Lang, Hovel and Hume, Bennett, Mitchell, Wells, the Rev. W.B. Clarke and W. Wilkins. and laid down the extent of the known settled areas in the 1870’s.
