Description:
Important c.19th map of the area extending from Newcastle, Port Stephens, Foster and to Mitchell Island on the coast, to inland areas of Gloucester and Fosterton from the first county atlas published in the colony by George Bishop (act. 1857-?). The maps were compiled from ‘the very latest plans in the Land’s Department‘, and laid down the extent of the known settled areas in the 1870’s.
