Scarce photogravure of Diana, the roman goddess for wild nature and forests, but she was later associated with hunting, and as a protector of women, with chastity, marriage and childbirth.She was identified by the Romans with the Greek goddess Artemis. Her cult spread throughout the Roman empire and she was identified with numerous local divinities.Diana was the daughter of Jupiter and Latona. The best known temples of Diana were in Nemi (SE. of Rome) and on the Aventine Hill in Rome.
