Rare engraving of Drysdale Springs on Corio Bay, Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria. The view is taken from present day Clifton Springs where Mr. Levien, a large landholder at nearby Murradoc built a well appointed hotel above the Springs, with 20 bedrooms, sitting, dining & drawing rooms, private rooms, a billiard room, private and public bars, culinary and servant’s quarters, and all requisite accommodation pertaining to a first-class establishment, involving expenditure of more than £3500.

Albert Charles Cooke (1836 - 1902)
Cooke was a painter, engraver, draughtsman and illustrator. Throughout his career he worked for many of the Illustrated newspapers, such as the Illustrated Sydney News, Illustrated Australian News, The Australasian Sketcher and The Leader. He was also well known for a series of birds eye views of a number of Australian cities and towns.
