Both chart are based on information derived from Cook’s seminal chart issued in his second voyage and the Northern Hemisphere from the dsicoveres and exploration on Cook’s third and final voyage. account in 1777.

Giovanni Maria Cassini (1745 - 1824)
Cassini was a Rome based Italian globe maker, geographer, engraver, and cartographer active in the later part of the 18th and early 19th century. Not to be confused with the un-related well known French cartographic family of the same name, Cassini is best known as a globe maker and is considered the last of the great 18th century globe makers.. Unlike many map and atlas publishers of the period, Cassini did all of his own engraving work.
