Description:
"The posters great centre of propagation was Montmarte. Willette was one of the quarter’s liveliest spirits. He decorated numerous cabarets with frescoes, participated in leading satirical journals, and was one of the first to interest himself in the poster. Like Cheret’s, his style is that of the French painters of the eighteenth century…Unlike Cheret however he was no colourist and contented himself with a monochromatic drawing" (Weill pp.42, 43)
