Description:
Certificate of membership to the Australian Natives’ Association a mutual society founded in Melbourne, on April 1871 with the name Victorian Natives’ Association. One could only be a member if they were Australian born and white. In 1872 the illegibility for membership was extended to men born in the other Australian colonies and consequently its name was changed. The Association was a leading proponent for Australian federation.
