Description:

Very detailed and scarce map of the Second Sydney Central Station and prior to its final redevelopment in 1902, when it was also moved one block closer to the city. Shown in red are water mains and hydrants.

The Second Sydney Terminal initially had two platforms as shown. It also included Mortuary railway station, which was on Sydney’s Rookwood Cemetery railway line. The Rookwood Cemetery Line used to be a part of the Sydney suburban network now known as Sydney Trains. The line serviced Rookwood Cemetery and was built in 1864, opening on 22 October 1864.
