Description:

Superb engraved panorama of Victoria, Hong Kong as seen from an elevated position looking west towards The Peak.
The British occupied Hong Kong Island in 1841 during the first Opium War and established a crown colony in 1843 with the founding of Victoria City. The city quickly became a centre for British, European and American traders, opium dealers, and merchants. It had originally had been named Queenstown but soon became known as Victoria.
