James Stirling (1852-1905)
Stirling was a Lands Department officer based at Omeo who later became Victorian Government Geologist. At various times, Stirling collected in the alps in company with von Mueller. Besides papers on the physiography of Victoria’s alps, Stirling published comprehensive accounts of the alpine flora.
