Haliotis- according to contemporary text, is considered &quotprimitive&quot. There are approximately 50 species in the world,around half of these occuring in Australia. Aquaria- The 1810 text describes the shell as spout-shaped, having at one end spiracles or breathing holes, capable of pouring forth and receiving water. Orthoceras- 1810 text describes the shell as turreted, elongated, having divisions or cells. Dentalia is described as tusk-shaped, pointed the mouth round and wide.
