Description:

John Payne Born in UK, Payne worked as a photographer around Tamworth NSW between 1869-74. In 1875 he established a studio at Waterloo advertising views of the city &amp Blue Mountains for sale. In 1879 he won a medal at the Exhibition in Sydney. In 1884 he travelled with the Government photographer to New Guinea to record the establishment of the British protectorate, these photos were never published. With the depression in the later part of the C1880&#8217s he moved to the suburb of Kogarah.
