Biography:

Richard Amundsen (1929-1988)
Amundsen was born in Sacremento, California in 1928 and was raised and educated in San Francisco. He began his career as an illustrator for an art service. In 1963, he decided to free lance, specialising in wildlife. While living in Seattle, he used a New York City agent to obtain commissions from major publishers like Golden Books and Random House, from Field and Stream for sixteen years, Reader’s Digest, and Outdoor Life. He also illustrated for the Remington Arms wildlife calendars and Leanin Tree Christmas Cards. In 1978 he won the National Wild Turkey Federation’s stamp competition.
