Description:

Early map of the East Indies extending from India to New Guinea from Cluver’s, Introductionis in Universam Geographiam tam Veterem Quam Novam. Interestingly the confusion that was created by the scribed accounts of Marco Polo’s travels, Il Milone where the relative position of Java Grande and Java Minor were incorrectly given, is here applied to the island of Sumbawa. Decorative title cartouche lower left comprising of a native holding a dog like animal and to the right an elephant.
