Mana Island is a three-kilometre long, 2.17 square kilometre table, with cliffs covering much of its coast and a plateau occupying much of the centre. It lies three kilometres off the North Island coast in the Tasman Sea, west of the city of Porirua and to the south of the entrance to Porirua Harbour.

Biography:

Samuel Charles Brees (1810 – 1865)

Painter, architect,
engineer and entrepreneur. Appointed engineer and surveyor to the New
Zealand Company in 1842. He actively promoted emigration to New Zealand
through talks and his own business. There are the finest steel
engravings printer of New Zealand. Early and rare.
