This map includes the islands of Ternate, Tidore, Mare, Moti, Makian, Bacan and part of Gilolo and features several galleons. For many centuries, the islands of Ternate and Tidore were the world’s major producer of cloves. Consequently, the region was one of the most sought after places for trade by the European powers.
