George Philip (1799-1882)

London geographical publisher, globe maker, and founder of the firm George Philip & Son. He started business in 1834 in Liverpool and from about 1848 he traded as George Philip & Son with his son and successor George Phillip II (1823-1902. Philip retired 1 July 1879 and the business was continued by his son and nephew.
