Description:
Map of the trip to the southland by Jacob Roggeveen in 1721. a Dutch explorer sent to find Terra Australis, but instead came across Easter Island. Australia and New Zealand shown according to Tasman. California shown as an island. The information on the map is outdated and obviously reflects the period that Roggeveen actually went on his voyage rather. By the time the account was published in 1784 Cook had discovered the east coast and circumnavigated New Zealand. Also California was knwon not to be an island.
