An excellent example of Franz von Reilly’s detailed map of the Pacific showing numerous explorers route. Australia is named Ulimaroa, a name derived from James Cook’s accounts of his first voyage and published by John Hawkesworth in 1773. The name Ulimaroa was first used on maps in 1776 by Daniel Djurberg and then by a number of other European mapmakers on their subsequent charts. Place names on the east coast of Australia are according to Cook as are those of New Zealand. The Hawiian Islands are named (Sandwich Inseln).

Austrian mapmaker who initially worked in the civil service but later to devote himself exclusively to cartography. From 1789-1806 he made 830 maps for his grand atlas of the world, Schauplatz der funf Theile der Welte. All of these were soley of Europe and the maps for the other continents were never published.
