Biography:

Paul Joyce’s superb etchings of Sydney clearly show his great interest in Sydney Harbour and it’s maritime history.

Paul developed his interest in art at St Andrews Cathedral School where the headmaster, Canon Newth, encouraged the young chorister to draw the interior of the cathedral.

He then studied life drawing with David Briggs and etching with Tony Johanssen at the Julian Ashton art School, the oldest Art School in Australia, located at The Rocks. Paul was a finalist in the under 25 section of the Doug Moran, Royal Australian Navy 75th anniversary National Art Prize in 1987 and won the prestigious Sydney Long etching Prize at Julian Ashton in 2000.

His work is represented in national and international collections.
