Very rare and important map of Australia based on Cook’s first voyage observations. Decorative title cartouche with ships and natives. One of the few maps of this period to concentrate on the whole Australian continent and to have Cook’s discoveries noted. Cook’s place names are translated to Italian. Cassini’s atlas, "Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale Delineato Sulle Ultime Osservazione..", was published in Rome 1792-1801. First state of this map prior to the addition to the abbreviation of the word, "Calcog", to "Calcografia" in the title. Tooley 288 Pl 15
