Lashbrooke, South Australia, Residence of Rev. J. B. Austin. - Antique Print from 1848

Genuine antique
dated:

1848

Description:

John Austin, sketcher, lithographer, farmer, journalist, mining consultant and accountant, arrived in South Australia with his family in 1843. John helped in clearing and developing some 500 acres purchased by his father Reverend John Austin in Macclesfield. The property later became known as Lashbrooke. Prints such as these highlighted the colony&#8217s economic progress and served as visual confirmation of the potential prosperity, both in wealth and social status, that could be gained through emigration to the colonies. Very rare separately issued lithograph.
