Map by Nicolas Sanson d’Abeville (1600-1667) and reissued by Jaillot, of the British Isles with decorative title cartouche and inset of Shetland and Orkney Islands. D’Abeville was Geographer of the King of France, founder of the French school of cartography, and tutor to Louis XIII. He published over 300 maps all with accuracy and high quality of engraving.
