The statuary group, now in the Uffizi in Florence is a Roman copy after a lost bronze original of the third century B.C. showing the influence of Lysippos. It was found in 1853 in fragmentary state.

Biography:

Jan de Bisschop (1628–1671)

Bisschop was also known as Johannes Episcopius. He was a lawyer, who became a Dutch Golden Age painter and engraver.
