Description:

Decorative double hemisphere world map with title banner and which is a corrected version of De Le’’ first world map issued in 1700. The address notation in the lower cartouche removes his address in favor of Schenk’s imprint. Australia is depicted according to the discoveries of Abel Tasman. In this edition, new information corrects the representation of the Great Lakes, South America, and the Niger River in Africa. In keeping with De L’’s desire for accuracy, the north west of North America is not shown here and there is no evidence of Antarctica. De Le’ used accounts from French explorers and colonisers of the Gulf of Mexico region. Framed
