Kabuki actor Matsumoto Koshiro V, as the character Hige no Ikyu in the play Sukeroku Yukari no Edo-zakura. Matsumoto Koshiro is the stage name of a line of kabuki actors in Japan who used the same name from the first in 1716 and still in use today by Matsumoto Koshiro IX . Most of these were blood relatives, though some were adopted into the family. The design of the Matsumoto family mon (emblem) is four flowers arranged in a diamond shape, and is called yotsu-hana-bishi.
