The series tells the story of the ascension of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and his famous vassals.The Taikoki is the famous biography of Hideyoshi Toyotomi by Oze Hoan published in 1626.

Utagawa Toyonobu (1859-1896)
Toyonobu was the grandson of Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III), and the son of Kunisada’s daughter Kunihisa. He was especially known for his pictures of heroes. He was one of the most promising young artist of the Utagawa School but died young in 1886.
