Detailed map of New South Wales, extending from the Lansdowne River to just south of Bateman Bay, with eighteen counties delineated. There is a table of statistics at lower left with population numbers of the state at 1846 as being, 162,351 persons and for Sydney 38,358. An interesting note is, ‘lime Kilns & Gold Copper’ on the Turon River.

London geographical
publisher, globe maker, and founder of the firm George Philip & Son.
He started business in 1834 in Liverpool and from about 1848 he traded
as “George Philip & Son” with his son and successor George Phillip
II (1823-1902. Philip retired 1 July 1879 and the business was continued
by his son and nephew.
