Up to date map of the Pacific showing Bridge’s surveys of the western Pacific.


Sir Cyprian Arthur George Bridge (1839-1924) was a British Royal Navy officer. He was Commander-in-chief of both the Australian Squadron and the China Squadron.

Bridge was appointed deputy commissioner for the Western Pacific, with command of the Osprey class sloop HMS Espiegle in Australia. Subsequently, he was appointed to command the modern battleship HMS Colossus.

Edward Weller (1819-1884)

Very active English cartographer of which little is known of his personal  life although he produced a number of important maps and was elected a member of the Royal Geographical Society.
